The Kim and Harold Louie Family Foundation Announces 2008 Louie Scholars

25 outstanding students receive scholarships totaling $100,000

Burlingame, CA (PRWeb) May 22, 2008 — The Kim and Harold Louie Family Foundation announced today that
it has granted scholarships totaling $100,000 to 25 outstanding high school seniors and college students
throughout the United States. The largest individual award for $10,000 went to David Phillips, Lompoc, CA.
David, 18, will be attending Pepperdine University in the fall and plans to major in Pre-Law. Twelve other
students were awarded $5,000 each. The remaining students received scholarships totaling $30,000.

“We received many applications from wonderful and promising students. Choosing scholarship recipients this
year was extremely difficult, but we believe each of our 2008 Louie Scholars represent someone with the most
potential to make a significant impact in the lives of others. We are also proud that our 2008 Louie Scholars
come from diverse genders, racial backgrounds, economic circumstances and geography,” said Betty B. Louie,
The Kim and Harold Louie Family Foundation’s Founder and Chair of the Board of Directors. “Our scholars are
chosen for their demonstrated leadership, scholastic achievement, involvement in their respective communities,
financial need and the ability to overcome adversity. Extra consideration was also given to the children of U.S.
veterans and students with special needs.
